SEATTLE, Oct. 5 -- Boeing and Ryanair, Europe's largest low-fare carrier, announced that the airline has ordered an additional nine new Next-Generation 737-800s, exercising options from a previous agreement. The deal is valued at upwards of $500 million at list prices.
Five airplanes will be for the replacement of 737-800s in Ryanair's current fleet delivered in 1999 and four will be used to accommodate the airline's continued growth into new markets. Deliveries will begin in September 2007.

DALLAS, Oct. 4 -- Southwest Airlines Co.announced today that the Company flew 4.7 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in September 2005, an 18.9 percent increase from the 4.0 billion RPMs flown in September 2004. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 11.5 percent to 7.0 billion from the September 2004 level of 6.3 billion. The load factor for the month was 67.4 percent, compared to 63.2 percent for the same period last year.
CHICAGO, Oct. 4 -- United Airlines today reported its preliminary traffic results for September 2005. The company reported its highest-ever September passenger load factor of 80.2 percent. Total scheduled revenue passenger miles (RPMs) decreased in September by 1.5 percent on a capacity decrease of 4.8 percent in scheduled available seat miles (ASMs) compared to the same period in 2004.

SEATTLE, Oct. 4, 2005 -- The Boeing Company today confirmed the completion of an order agreement with Mumbai-based Jet Airways for 10 777-300ERs.
Jet Airways announced its intention to order the commercial airplanes, valued at $2.53 billion at list prices, at the Paris Air Show in June. Deliveries will begin in early 2007.
The 777-300ERs will be used to expand Jet Airways' international operations in Europe, Asia and U.S. markets.

SEOUL - Korean Air will recommence twice-weekly flights to the Thai resort island of Phuket on Sunday, after a 10-month hiatus. The number of flights will be raised to four to meet growing air travel demand during the peak season between Jan. 1-March 2.

29 SEPTEMBER 2005 | GENEVA -- The United Nations Secretary General has appointed Dr. David Nabarro, one of the most senior public health experts at the World Health Organization (WHO), to lead coordination of the UN response to avian influenza and a possible human influenza pandemic.
The appointment is critical as the world is fast recognizing the risk of an imminent human influenza pandemic, and is taking steps to reduce the risk and to get prepared. To this end, the World Health Organization has sent all countries detailed guidance on actions they need to take. Implementing these actions requires coordination across UN agencies, countries, civil society, across sectors within countries and the private sector. Implementation also requires funding.
DOHA - Qatar Airways is to launch flights to Madrid on 2 December 2005. Qatar Airways will operate three flights a week between Doha and the Spanish capital. The airline currently operates to 66 destinations from Doha, which will rise to 69 with the addition of Madrid, Berlin and, from November 15, the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

SINGAPORE - Customers of Singapore Airlines and Asiana Airlines travelling between the Singapore and Seoul are now able to benefit from a greater choice of flights, thanks to a codeshare agreement signed by the two airlines. Whilst initially, the co-operation applies only to services between the two cities, the airlines plan to progressively expand the codeshare co-operation to include Trans-Pacific flights beyond Seoul, domestic destinations in South Korea, intra-travel in North Asia and flights beyond Singapore.
