Brussels Airport - 7 december 2006 - Diverse media meldden vandaag verkeerdelijk dat de Chinese luchtvaartmaatschappij Hainan Airlines zijn vluchtenaanbod tussen Brussel en Beijing tijdens het winterseizoen tot de helft terugschroeft. Tijdens de zomer worden vier wekelijkse vluchten geboden op deze route, tijdens de winter zijn dat er drie. Vanaf het komende zomerseizoen wordt de frequentie opnieuw tot vier vluchten per week opgetrokken. Aan deze afspraken is niets gewijzigd.

Boeing, First Choice Airways Sign Order for Two Additional Boeing 787s
SEATTLE, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) today confirmed that UK-based carrier and integrated-tour operator First Choice Airways has ordered an additional two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners with deliveries beginning in 2011.
This order previously was listed on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries webpage attributed to an unidentified customer.
First Choice, the European launch customer for the 787, placed its first order for six 787s in July 2004. With today's announcement, First Choice now has eight 787s on order.
Boeing will deliver First Choice's first 787 in the first quarter of 2009.

Northwest Airlines Reports November Traffic
EAGAN, Minn. (December 5, 2006) - Northwest Airlines announced a November consoli- dated (mainline and regional) load factor of 81.7 percent, 1.3 points above November 2005.
Northwest reported a mainline load factor of 82.4 percent, 1.2 points above November 2005.
In November 2006, Northwest and Northwest Airlink regional carriers flew 6.13 billion consolidated revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and 7.51 billion consolidated available seat miles (ASMs), a traffic increase of 3.2 percent and a capacity increase of 1.7 percent versus November 2005.
Northwest flew 5.72 billion mainline revenue passenger miles and 6.95 billion mainline available seat miles in November 2006, a traffic increase of 4.5 percent and a capacity increase of 3.0 percent versus November 2005.

Continental Airlines Converts to More
Boeing 737-900ER Aircraft |
NEW YORK, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE:CAL) today said it has converted an additional 12 of its existing Boeing orders into the new Boeing 737-900ER. These are conversions from the airline's previously announced Boeing Next-Generation 737 orders. With this latest conversion, Continental's total commitment to the 737-900ER is now 24 firm aircraft.
The 737-900ER is the latest addition to Boeing's highly successful 737NG family which has delivered over 2,000 737NGs worldwide. Continental was the first U.S. carrier to order this new extended-range aircraft which flies approximately 500 nautical miles farther than the existing 737-900. The 737- 900ER shares the same performance attributes of other Next-Generation 737s currently in Continental's fleet, giving the carrier greater efficiencies in pilot training, crew flexibility, simplified maintenance and savings on spare part inventory costs.

Boeing, Nakash Group of America Sign Deal for Two 787 Dreamliners
SEATTLE, Dec. 05, 2006 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Nakash Group of America today announced an order for two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. |
Nakash Group of America is a multi-national, multi-billion dollar conglomerate that owns Arkia Israeli Airlines. Arkia, based in Tel Aviv, will operate the 787s, making it the first airline in Israel to offer 787 services to its passengers.
The order is valued at $366 million at list prices. Deliveries are in 2012. Nakash Group also secured options for two 787-9s.

Event Marks the First Airplane Delivery From Historic Order for 68 Boeing Jetliners
SEATTLE, The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) and Air India celebrated the delivery of the first of 18 Next-Generation 737-800s to Air-India Express, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India. The delivery also marked the first airplane delivered to Air India following the airline's order for 68 Boeing jetliners, the largest commercial airplane order in India's civil aviation history. The order was placed in December 2005 and is valued at more than $11 billion at list prices.
Air India's order comprised 27 787-8 Dreamliners, eight 777-200LR (Longer Range) Worldliners and 15 777-300ER (Extended Range) airplanes for Air India; and 18 Next-Generation 737-800s for Air-India Express.
SN Brussels Airlines welcomes German EU Presidency with extra Berlin Tempelhof flights
Brussels, 1 December 2006 - With the German EU presidency starting in 2007, SN Brussels Airlines anticipates passenger growth on the Brussels-Berlin route and is adding extra seat capacity and flights. As from January SN Brussels Airlines will operate five daily frequencies between the European capital and the convenient Berlin Tempelhof city airport.

Ras Al Khaimah (one of the United Arab Emirates) plans to launch in January its own airline, RAK Airways. Initially, the airline's fleet will comprise one B737-300 and one B757-200.
RAK will focus on routes within the Arabian peninsula, and to the Indian sub-continent, but it has a long list - certainly to operate with just two aircraft. This includes Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, and other CIS countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine).
Earlier this year, the airline won the contract to run RAK airport -which will help it upgrade the airport for its own flights.

From January to October 2006, Tunisia's visitor overnights grew 1% to 31.8mn. But revenue growth was faster - up 5.1% to US$1.63bn. Arrivals from North Africa grew faster, but Europe's market share is still 62%, even if it fell one point.
Jordan's visitor revenue during the first six months of this year reached US$594mn, up 10%.
Although there was a 15% increase in visitors from Arab countries in the first half of the year, Egypt's tourist office aims for only 9mn total visitors over the whole year - which would be growth of 5%.
Sulawesi, new destination for Indonesia
Indonesia wants to open up more regions to international tourism. Air connections to one
- the island of Sulawesi - have improved recently with direct flights Singapore-Makassar (South Sulawesi) with Garuda, and Singapore-Manado (North Sulawesi) with Silk Air.

Luxembourg rejoins culture club
Luxembourg will be European Capital City of Culture* next year; it last won the title in 1995. Coverage will actually be stretched to the Walloon region in Belgium, Lorraine in France, and Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland in Germany.
Luxembourg's programme is based on migration and cultural cooperation. More than 350 projects will spread beyond the borders of the Grand Duchy, including music, dance and theatre festivals, exhibitions, open air parties, and more.

Switzerland hopes for good year
Based on current results from Swiss hotels, this year should be a good one. Guest overnights through July grew 5.5% - and the foreigner total was even stronger, with 6.4% growth.
Overnights from US guests grew 11.4%, from UK 8.6%, France 3.5%, Italy 3.2%, and Germany 2.3%. Occupancy was up almost 7 points, and average room rate by 2.5%.
Switzerland's performance has been helped by a relative weakening of its currency against the Euro.

Worldwide Internet usage has grown almost 200% since 2000
There are currently an estimated 1,076,203,987 Internet users worldwide (representing about 16.6% of the population), according to statistics updated on 27th November 2006 by Internet World Stats. This represents an increase of 198.1% compared to 2000.
Over 50% of vacations are planned online in the US.
The majority of travellers in the US now plan their vacations using the Internet, while only a small percentage continue to use travel agents, according to a survey from morefocus.

PhoCusWright forecasts that online sales will generate more than half (actually, 60%) of all US travel bookings by 2008, a big change from the 42% in 2005.
The changes are: leisure up from a 45% share in 2005 to an estimated 64% in 2008; un-managed business travel from 68% to 82%; and managed business travel from 31% to 48%.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand, the country's NTO, has launched an emarketing campaign - ThailandHotDeal.com. Its target is 20,000 online bookings through August 2007 selling products worth US$5.3mn - meaning an average US$265 each.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has released an initial $5.7 billion 2007 budget for public review. The agency's 2007 preliminary budget increases capital expenditures by $625 million and holds operating expenses flat while continuing to increase security spending and decrease administrative costs. The International workshop for tourism professionals Buy Latvia , buy Baltics
will take place from 7 9 February 2007 in Riga , Latvia .
The International workshop is organized to introduce Latvia as a new, attractive and safe tourism destination, to bring together senior level travel buyers and sellers as well as to provide a possibility to explore more than twenty various Latvian and Baltics tourism products.
Outgoing tour operators, travel agents and events organizers who are interested in Latvia and Baltics are welcome to register for the workshop. For the first fifty applicants transport and hotel expenses will be covered by the organizers.
