Boeing Delivers Bavaria International's First Next-Generation 737-800
SEATTLE, Sept. 06, 2006 -- The Boeing Company and Bavaria International Aircraft Leasing today announced the delivery of the company's first Next-Generation 737-800. New Delhi, India-based Air Sahara will operate the airplane.
Bavaria, based in Munich, Germany, has a variety of Boeing airplanes on lease to operators around the globe, including 11 737-300s, six 737-700s and five 717-200s. Bavaria will take delivery of a second 737-800 later this month.

Singapore Airlines and South African Airways sign codeshare agreement
From 15 September 2006, Singapore Airlines’ customers will be able to travel to more destinations in South Africa thanks to a new codeshare agreement signed by Singapore Airlines and South African Airways (SAA).
Customers of Singapore Airlines can now fly on SAA’s flights between Johannesburg and the following destinations: Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and East London.
Customers of SAA in turn can fly on Singapore Airlines’ non-stop, daily flights between Singapore and Johannesburg, and once-a-week (Wednesday) on the service between Singapore and Cape Town.
Low cost sector drives global aviation growth
Capacity on low cost airlines has more than doubled in just four years, according to the latest figures released from OAG. This month (September 2006), budget airlines plan to operate more than 46 million seats on over 323,000 flights, compared with 22 million seats on 169,000 flights in September 2002.
The volume of low cost flights worldwide is 14% higher than a year ago, and offers 16% more capacity. Low-cost carriers, accounting for 17% of all seats on sale worldwide, now operate around 14% of all flights. Europe and the United States are both showing the balance of budget flights as 18%, a figure that has been static in the US for the last 3 years.

KLM Increases Frequency To Chengdu
AMSTELVEEN, September 5, 2006 - KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is to increase the number of flights between Amsterdam and Chengdu in central China from two to three roundtrips a week. The new service, like the existing two services, will be operated using Boeing 777-200ER equipment.
KLM launched the scheduled service between Amsterdam and Chengdu on May 28 this year. The strong rise in demand on this route enables KLM to increase the frequency to three roundtrips a week as of December 1 of this year.
Two millionth Malév revenue passenger - one month earlier !
Malév welcomed its two millionth revenue passenger of the year today, 31 August 2006, nearly one month earlier than it did last year. Customer number two million, who was picked out by the computer system travelling on Malév flight No. 830 to Sofia, received a complimentary upgrade from Economy to SkyClub business class for the flight to Sofia airport and a gift of two free tickets valid for any Malév destination in Europe. Toutefois, pour les seuls passagers à destination des Etats-Unis, une procédure spéciale est prévue pour les achats de produits liquides, gels et crèmes.
Ces produits peuvent être achetés, mais seront délivrés par le personnel de l'aéroport à l'avion, où le passager pourra les prendre à bord. Le personnel des boutiques de l'aéroport sera heureux de fournir toute information utile et d'assister le passager à ce propos.
Il n'y a plus aucune restriction à propos des articles électroniques.
Les passagers à destination des Etats-Unis pour lesquels un transfert est prévu dans un autre aéroport sont invités à contacter leur compagnie aérienne pour toute information concernant les mesures de sureté d'application dans l'aéroport de transfert

United States and Kuwait sign open-skies aviation agreement
The United States and Kuwait agreed to remove all barriers limiting the number and range of commercial airline flights between the two countries. The agreement, known as an Open-Skies agreement, means U.S. and Kuwaiti airlines will be free to set service schedules and prices between the two countries based on travel demand.

July sets new records in visitor arrivals for Singapore
Singapore`s tourism industry hit record highs this July for monthly visitor arrivals and Average Occupancy Rates. Reviewing its half-year progress, the Singapore Tourism Board projects the industry will see historical highs for annual visitor arrivals compared to last year.
In July, the tourism industry not only broke the 900,000 barrier, setting a record of 913,000 visitor arrivals but also saw Average Occupancy Rates reaching a record high of 91% and Average Room Rates increasing by 18.7% over July 2005 to £54. In July 2006 Singapore also welcomed 34,000 visitors from the UK.

Apple voorziet elke iMac nu ook van de nieuwe Intel Core 2 Duo-processor. Dit maakt de nieuwe iMac-reeks tot 50%* sneller dan de vorige generatie. Bovendien is de iMac nu verkrijgbaar vanaf 1029 euro inclusief BTW. Tegelijk krijgen ook de Mac mini’s een snelheidsinjectie met Intel Core Duo processors aan dezelfde prijs dan de vorige reeks.

Amadeus targets paperless ticketing by the end of 2007
Amadeus expects 70% of the tickets issued through its system will be electronic (e-tickets) by the end of 2006. The current figure is 64.5%. Amadeus has already implemented e-ticketing for 39 airlines this year and expects to implement a further 20 by the end of the year.

Vanaf 19 december aanstaande is in Paleis Het Loo traditiegetrouw de sfeervolle presentatie “Kerstmis op Paleis Het Loo” te zien. Met feestelijk gedekte tafels en groenversiering geeft het museum in de periode rond Kerstmis bezoekers een indruk van driehonderd jaar kerstfeest aan het hof. Lees meer.
