Air France a pris connaissance du communiqué de presse diffusé aujourd'hui par Ryanair (voir ci-dessous).
1) Une fois de plus, Ryanair s'offre un « coup de pub » à bon compte.
2) C'est l'Etat qui fixe les taxes, pas les compagnies aériennes
3) L'égalité de traitement des compagnies aériennes sur le territoire français est totale et toutes, y compris les low cost, acquittent les mêmes niveaux de taxes.
4) Enfin, seules les redevances passagers font l'objet d'une différentiation entre vols domestiques et vols intracommunautaires, les redevances d'atterrissage étant les mêmes pour ces types de vols, contrairement à ce qu'affirme Ryanair.
Ryanair porte plainte contre Air France au sujet d'une aide d'Etat s'élevant à 1 milliard d'Euros
Communiqué de presse : Ryanair, la compagnie aérienne N°1 en Europe pour les plus bas tarifs, annonçait aujourd'hui avoir déposé une plainte auprès de la Commission européenne contre Air France, l'accusant d'avoir perçu au cours des dernières années une aide illégale provenant de l'Etat français pour un montant total d'environ un milliard d'euros. En effet, le dispositif actuellement en vigueur sur le marché français applique pour les vols domestiques des taxes aéroportuaires (taxes passagers et d'atterrissage) inférieures de 50 % à celles pratiquées pour les vols en partance de la France vers les pays de l'Union européenne. Il s'agit là d'un procédé jugé illégal par la législation européenne et la Commission européenne a d'ailleurs engagé des poursuites contre les pays ayant suivi le même type de procédé. EAGAN, Minn. - (May 10, 2006) - Northwest Airlines Corporation today said it realized a net loss of $1.1 billion during the first quarter of 2006. This compares to a net loss of $537 million in the first quarter of 2005. Excluding reorganization and unusual items, Northwest reported a first quarter 2006 net loss of $129 million versus a first quarter 2005 net loss of $450 million. Doug Steenland, president and chief executive officer, said, During the quarter, Northwest continued to make progress on its restructuring goals to address the carrier's cost structure, resize and optimize its fleet and restructure its balance sheet.
THAI Launches THAI Grand Season Campaign 2006
Thai Airways International has launched its THAI Grand Season Campaigns 2006. The "Thailand Home Coming" package, which encourages Thai people living overseas to visit Thailand, includes three-day/two-night accommodation with breakfast and airport transfer, one free round-trip domestic flight in Thailand and 20kg of excess baggage allowance. The campaign is valid until November 30, 2006. THAI's "Bangkok Treasure Paradise" campaign introduces a sover package until December 31, 2006. THAI passengers with connecting flights at Bangkok International Airport will receive a 10% discount for duty free shopping at King Power Duty Free Shops. The "Royal Orchid Holidays' Bangkok Sover" campaign, offers transit passengers a two-day/one-night sover package in Bangkok at a starting rate of US$30 including breakfast and airport transfer. The package is valid until September 30, 2006. The "Thailand Grand Meeting Promotion", is offering special air fares and complementary air tickets, subsidised by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau. JAL and Emirates to Codeshare
Japan Airlines (JAL) and Emirates (EK) have expanded their codeshare partnership between Japan and Dubai. From June 1, 2006, the codeshare agreement allows JAL to place its flight code on round-trip flights operated by Emirates between Nagoya's Chubu International Airport, known as Centrair, and Dubai International Airport. Emirates will launch direct non-s services four times a week every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between the two airports, expanding to a daily operation from July 1, 2006. The new codeshare includes JAL domestic connecting flights to and from Fukuoka and Sapporo with smooth check-in with the JAL-Emirates Nagoya-Dubai flights. JAL and Emirates
frequent flyer programmes are linked, enabling members of the JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) and Emirates' Skywards FFP to earn miles on each other's international flights.

Boeing Improves 777 Maintenance Program
SEATTLE, May 04, 2006 -- Recent improvements to the scheduled maintenance program for the Boeing 777 promise to reduce airlines' maintenance costs and increase the time a 777 airplane is in revenue-generating service. By increasing the time between certain maintenance tasks, the new program reduces maintenance by more than 400 labor-hours per airplane per year and gives airlines one more day of service annually for each 777 in their fleet.
Using industry averages, the reduced maintenance costs and increased revenue opportunity add more than $100,000 in annual value to each 777 in operation.

Northwest Airlines reports April Traffic
EAGAN, Minn. -- (May 3, 2006) -- Northwest Airlines (OTC: NWACQ.PK) today announced a systemwide April load factor of 84.9 percent, 3.7 points above April 2005. Northwest flew 6.04 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and 7.12 billion available seat miles (ASMs) in April 2006, a traffic decrease of 4.6 percent and a capacity decrease of 8.8 percent versus April 2005.

This involves the irruption of five markets with a potential sending of visitors to Cadiz Province. Such news was positively valued from all the sectors, especially by hotel managing directors. Jerez will be connected to the airports of Berlin, Munich, Cologne and other 7 German towns. Airline companies like Ryanair, Air Berlin, Condor, Hapagfly, Germanwings and Cirrus Airlines will operate those flights.

Hillary tells tourists to visit Nepal
Sir Edmund Hillary, the first mountaineer to conquer Mt Everest, on Thursday requested foreign tourists to visit Nepal in the wake of renewed optimism of sustainable peace in the country.
"Tourists should visit to Nepal to help revive the shattered economy," said a frail-looking Hillary. Talking to the Post, he also requested tourists to put Nepal in their list as a destination to visit. "My
feeling is that visiting Nepal is pretty good. Things are very much normal in Nepal," he said. Hillary, who flew to the Everest region in a helicopter on Thursday, appreciated the mountains as "superbly beautiful". "After all, Nepal has a great deal of natural gifts to offer tourists."
UK relaxes travel advisory to Nepal
Following the political change in the country moving towards the path of peace and stability, Britain relaxed its advisory on travel to Nepal, saying it was no longer advising its citizens to avoid the troubled Himalayan kingdom.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) warned British nationals against "all but essential travel" to Nepal late last month as a series of violent demonstrations and strikes.
Visitors arriving to Nepal by air route during the month of April 2006 recorded a 2.2% decline compared to the same month of last year. 18,465 visitors came into Nepal during the month. Indian visitors number plunged by 23.9% while non-Indian arrivals increased by 6% during the month. This was stated in the provisional figures provided by Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, quoting Immigration Office, TIA.

San Francisco Selected for Starwood's First New Le Meridien Hotel in North America since Acquiring the Brand
Starwood Hotels & Resorts and HEI Hospitality announced today that the Park Hyatt Hotel at 333 Battery Street in San Francisco has become a Le Meridien Hotel. Accor Takes Control in French Polynesia

Porto to have the largest Pousada guest house in Portugal
With 75 rooms and a stunning view over the river Douro, the Pousada do Freixo, in Porto, is to be the biggest in the country, and is set to be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2009.

Africa Travel Association Signs MOU with PATA
A formal understanding between the Africa Travel Association (ATA) and PATA has been signed. ATA President, the Hon. Kabinga J Pande MP (pictured), Zambia's Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources, signed the agreement during ATA's 31st World Congress in Accra, Ghana, last week. Minister Pande attended the 55th PATA Annual Conference last month. The memorandum spells out areas of information and research exchange and other areas of cooperation between the two associations and their members. The aim of the PATA-ATA link is to gain a greater understanding of, and positively influence, increased tourism flows between both regions. Both ATA and PATA expressed their gratitude for the leadership role which the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism played to bring about the PATA-ATA partnership. The ATA Conference also appointed the Hon. J. Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, Ghana's Minister of Tourism, as ATA's new President.

The supervisory board of TUI AG today appointed Michael Behrendt (shipping) and Peter Rothwell (tourism) as ordinary members to the Executive Board of the Group with immediate effect. International visitation to the US continues growth into 2006
The U.S. Department of Commerce announced that 2.9 million international visitors traveled to the United States in January 2006, an increase of 11 percent over January 2005. As we approach National Tourism Week, it is encouraging to see a continuing trend of increased visitation to the United States, said Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing and Services Al Frink. In 2005, we recorded the second-highest number of visitors in U.S. history, and those visitors spent record dollars during their stays. Read more.
