La hausse du trafic et l'augmentation significative du coefficient d'occupation sont le résultat positif obtenu par Lufthansa pour les 9 premiers mois de 2005. Durant cette période, 38,8 millions de passagers ont choisi de voyager avec Lufthansa, soit une augmentation de 0,5% par rapport à la même période l'an passé. Mesuré en Passagers Kilomètres Transportés, le trafic a progressé de 4,7%, soit à un rythme supérieur à l'augmentation modérée de la capacité. En conséquence, le coefficient d'occupation a augmenté de 1,5 point de pourcentage à 75,8%, un record pour la compagnie sur 9 mois.

Two new hotels part of major Accor expansion in southern Thailand

NEW YORK, Oct. 12 -- Cendant Corporation (NYSE:CD) today announced it has completed the acquisition of the management and franchise business of the Dallas-based Wyndham(R) hotel chain from an affiliate of The Blackstone Group for $101 million in cash. The acquisition includes 82 franchise agreements, 27 management contracts and the worldwide rights to the Wyndham brand for hotel and timeshare development.
As previously announced, Cendant is not acquiring any properties as part of this transaction, which is expected to be modestly accretive to Cendant's earnings per share and free cash flow in 2005.
AVIAREPS welcomes its first European airport client. The airline representation company is now responsible for sales and marketing of Munich Airport in the North American market. All activities will be handled from both offices in Toronto and Miami. Director Sales & Marketing is Matt Bloom who also acts as General Manager of AVIAREPS Canada based at the Toronto branch.

SWISS reports an average seat load factor of 79.1% on its scheduled services for the first nine months of 2005, an improvement of 3.9 percentage points on the same period last year. Seat load factor for intercontinental services stood at 85.0%, a year-on-year increase of 4.1 percentage points. European seat load factor was also an improvement on the same period last year, rising 4.7 percentage points to 66.8%. SWISS carried 7.33 million passengers in the first nine months of 2005, an increase of 4.6% on the prior-year period.
SWISS posted a seat load factor of 82.2% for September 2005, up 4.2 percentage points on the same month last year. September seat load factor on intercontinental services stood at 87.4% (up 3.6 percentage points), while the European seat load factor of 71.3% was a 6.0-percentage-point improvement on September 2004.
London, 10 October/GNN/ --The British Government has decided not to accept the Civil Aviation Authority's recommendation for a £1 levy on all air passengers departing the UK. The levy was intended to finance the homeward journeys of passengers whose airline went bankrupt while they were abroad, and refunds of the money they had lost.
The announcement was made today by Aviation Minister Karen Buck in a Written Statement to Parliament.

RESTON, Va., -- comScore Networks, Yahoo!, and Media Contacts today jointly released new research quantifying the impact of Web search engines on domestic travel spending. The custom study examined the search, visiting and buying behavior of consumers over eight weeks following the initiation of travel research in April 2005. In April, 35 million U.S. consumers used a search engine to initiate travel planning, and those who bought travel online ultimately spent an estimated $6.6 billion in the category during the eight week analysis period.
MACAU - Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will open a second luxury hotel in Macau, which will be developed on the Macau waterfront. The overall project is scheduled to open in 2009, and will be directly connected to the MGM Grand Casino. Mandarin Oriental's second property will feature 210 guestrooms including 42 suites, all of which afford panoramic views of aspects of Macau. For the business traveller, the property will offer a full-service business centre, and the hotel will also incorporate a Spa.
BANGKOK - Thai Airways International is to operate direct flights three times per week on the route Bangkok - Moscow (Domodedovo) v.v. utilizing MD-11 aircraft, from 1 November onwards. Flights between Bangkok and Moscow v.v. (Domodedovo Airport) will operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
BANGKOK - The Verandah and the Oriental Health Centre at the Oriental, Bangkok have recently undergone major transformations. This completes the final renovations at the hotel, which come just in time to usher in The Oriental's 130th Anniversary celebrations in 2006. The Verandah re-opened with new menu designs, contemporary uniforms, and new culinary creations. The Oriental's renovations also include the unveiling of a new look for its Health Centre, which has been expanded and remodeled. HONG KONG - Continental Micronesia is to reinstate non-stop services between Hong Kong and Guam effective November 7, 2005. The airline currently serves Hong Kong - Guam via a stop in Saipan. Customers traveling on the non-stop flight from Hong Kong will be able to make an onward connection to Honolulu after a one hour layover in Guam. Continental operates daily non-stop services from Guam to Honolulu and on to Houston using a B767 aircraft with 20 BusinessFirst seats and 236 economy class seats.
LONDON - bmi plans to increase its services from Heathrow to Mumbai to a daily service and to introduce a three-times-weekly Heathrow-Jeddah service, following the successful launch of its Heathrow-Riyadh service last month. bmi launched a three-times-weekly service between Heathrow and Riyadh on 1 September 2005 and has seen strong bookings in both standard and premium classes. It launched four-times-weekly Heathrow-Mumbai services in May of this year. All flights offer a three-class service and are operated on an Airbus A330 aircraft.

In September, Air France-KLM posted an excellent performance both in terms of traffic and unit revenue. Traffic increased strongly (up 9.6%) on 4.9% higher capacity. Load factor gained 3.6 points to reach the high level of 83.1%. The number of passengers carried rose by 7.3% to 6.2 million.
These strong results were driven by both a dynamic long-haul network and a particularly buoyant level of activity on the European network.
