Air New Zealand to Increase Premium Economy Seating Available for Long Haul Travel and Completes 767 Refresh
Air New Zealand is to increase the number of Pacific Premium Economy seats available to customers flying internationally on the airline's B747 aircraft.
The airline's fleet of eight B747 aircraft will be reconfigured to replace 15 standard Economy seats located at the front of the main cabin with eight Premium Economy seats. Work is scheduled for completion by end of October.

Newest Addition To China Southern FFP Program
SHANGHAI, China, June 14, 2006 - China Southern Airlines has added the newest Marriott property - the Union Square Shanghai Pudong Marriott Executive Apartments – to its Sky Pearl Club frequent flyer program.
The Sky Pearl Club is the largest airline frequent flyer program of any major airline in China. More than 800 new members join The Sky Pearl Club every day.
China Southern Airlines recently joined the world-wide Marriott Rewards family of airlines.

Boeing Delivers First 737-800 to Atlas Blue
SEATTLE, June 12, 2006 -- Boeing today announced that it has delivered the first Next-Generation 737-800 airplane to Atlas Blue, a low-cost carrier based in Marrakech, Morocco.
Atlas Blue was launched in 2004 as a fully owned subsidiary of Royal Air Maroc and provides direct international service from Marrakech and Agadir to destinations across Europe.

Malév chief elected to the board of IATA
IATA (International Air Transport Association), representing 261 air carriers across the world, elected Malév chief executive officer János Gönci to serve for one year on the 30-member Board of Governors. The decision was reached at the organization's general assembly in Paris on 5th June.
“This decision places Malév among the top thirty airlines in the world,” stated János Gönci. He said that when he was invited to take up this post, the IATA leadership was honouring the economic-organizational restructuring, and stabilization that the Hungarian national carrier had achieved in the past year, a result also recognized among other airlines. Today, international partners clearly consider Malév an airline willing and able to change, an airline worthy of involvement to an ever-higher degree in the process of international strategy formulation and decision-making.

Nepal Visitors Arrival in May 2006
A total of 18,550 visitors came to Nepal by air route in May 2006. Compared to the same month of last year, it registered a decrease of 10.9%. The decline was observed in both market segments including third country and Indian arrivals. This was indicated in the figures released by Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation quoting Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.

First ever British Tourism Week planned for March 2007

2006 sees polarisation of London hotel market
June 13, 2006 -- Hotel rooms in London with average room rates over £160 are showing double-digit growth in revenue per available room (revPAR) for year-to-April 2006 according to the HotelBenchmark Survey by Deloitte. This top end segment of the market recorded 7% growth in average room rates and a 12% increase in occupancy, leading to a whopping 20% growth in revPAR compared to the same period in 2005.
In contrast, hotels in London with average room rates under £80 are struggling to see any growth, recording just under 1% increase in revPAR for year-to-April 2006. Rate dropped by 1% and occupancy grew by 1% to 77% compared to the same period in 2005.

Amsterdam, juni 2006 – Corendon, specialist op het gebied van reizen naar Turkije, signaleert het herstel van boekingen op Turkije. Ook uit de cijfers van TNS-NIPO blijkt dat de bestemming op dit moment bezig is met een ware comeback met een marktaandeel van ruim 26%. Corendon verwacht dat Turkije aan het einde van het jaar wederom de grootste Nederlandse vliegvakantiebestemming is, met een aandeel tussen de 28 en 30%. Lees meer.
Air France Takes 2% Stake In Club Mediterranée
As part of the restructuring of the Club Méditerranée shareholding among its major partners, announced this morning, Air France will be acquiring a 2% stake in Club Méditerranée.
The new shareholders, together with Accor, will now hold 22% of the capital, and have committed to a two-year lock-up period for their shares.
This agreement strengthens the commercial partnership between Air France and Club Méditerranée, renewed in early June, for all air services purchased by Club Méditerranée from Air France.
Air France is already Club Méditerranée's leading air services provider.

Jackie Chan Joins UNWTO To Fight For Tourism
MACAU, CHINA, 13 June, 2006 - Action film hero Jackie Chan has a new cause to fight for as the World Tourism Organization's (UNWTO) first "Asia-Pacific Tourism Ambassador". In his new role, Jackie Chan will help promote tourism as a means of fighting poverty throughout the region.
ackie Chan, already an honorary professor at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, received a plaque today from UNWTO Secretary-General Francesco Frangialli at a brief ceremony held in Macau to celebrate his appointment.
In addition to being Asia's most popular martial artist, film director, actor and stuntman, Jackie Chan is active in numerous charities in Asia. In Hong Kong, he sponsors the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation to help impoverished children and the elderly, and made substantial contributions to help with the fight the SARS epidemic in 2002.

L’Office du Tourisme USA sera présent au Paris Country Festival du 23 au 25 juin 2006 au Grand Dôme de Villebon, à 18km au sud de Paris. Plusieurs brochures seront proposées afin de développer la connaissance du public sur toute la palette de produits touristiques qu'offrent les Etats-Unis.
