JAL Applies for Increase in International Passenger Fare Fuel Surcharges
Tokyo, August 17, 2006: Today the JAL Group requested approval from the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT), to increase the fuel surcharge placed on all international passenger tickets issued on or after October 1st, 2006.

JAL originally introduced the fuel surcharge on international tickets in February 2005 in response to unprecedented rises in the cost of fuel. Since then continuing fuel cost increases have forced JAL to review the amount of fuel surcharges. This will be the third increase in international surcharges since their introduction.
JAL Group Revises Route & Frequency Plan for FY06

Boeing, SpiceJet Announce Order for 10 Next-Generation 737s SpiceJet Next-Generation 737-800 and -900
SEATTLE, Aug. 14, 2006 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] and New Delhi-based SpiceJet today announced that the airline converted its 10 options into an order for five Next-Generation 737-800s and five 737-900ERs. SpiceJet first announced the preliminary agreement for this order in February at the 2006 Asian Aerospace Air Show in Singapore.

The order is valued at more than $700 million at list prices and deliveries are scheduled to begin in late 2007.
The options exercised today are part of an order SpiceJet originally placed in February 2005. That order included 10 737-800s, the first of which Boeing delivered to the airline in February 2006.

India set to become world's leading LCC market
August 08, 2006 -- Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation predicts the LCC market share in India will reach 70% by 2010, making it one of the world’s leading LCC markets in terms of total market penetration. Given the growth potential of the market and penetration levels already achieved by LCCs, the Centre predicts that within the next five years, India could see the establishment of a home-grown LCC with the size and scale approaching that of easyJet or Ryanair today.
The prediction comes as the Centre prepares to hold its third annual India and Middle East LCC Symposium in Mumbai on 29/30 September 2006.

Jet Airways launches direct Delhi – Singapore service
Monday, August 14, 2006 -- Jet Airways, India’s premier airline, launched its new international flight linking New Delhi, the capital city of India, with the City State of Singapore, thereby making it the first Indian carrier to provide three direct services between Singapore and the metro cities of Chennai, Mumbai and now New Delhi in India.
The daily service will be operated with the new generation B737 – 800 aircraft effective September 06, 2006. This direct service to Singapore will be the third direct non-stop flight operated by Jet Airways from India to Singapore. The airline already operates daily direct flights from Chennai and Mumbai to Singapore.
Jet Airways will operate the Delhi – Singapore flight with a Next Generation Boeing B 737 – 800 aircraft.

Anvers, le 14 août 2006 - Les autorités britanniques ont réduit avec effet immédiat le niveau de sécurité pour tous les aéroports de Grande-Bretagne. D'alerte maximale, le niveau de sécurité est passé à "haute sécurité". En conséquence, les opérations de VLM Airlines à l'aéroport de London City reprennent leur cours normal. |
Le temps de check-in est passé de 2 à 1 heure et l'enregistrement se fait à nouveau de façon normale malgré une sécurité très stricte. L'attente au contrôle de sécurité à l'aéroport de London City est actuellement de 30 minutes maximum, et ce uniquement en heure de pointe.
Les passagers sont à nouveau autorisés à emporter un bagage à main avec des dimensions maximales de 45cm (longueur) x 35cm (largeur) x 16cm (profondeur). Les PC, GSM, clés de voitures, PDA et autres appareils électroniques sont à nouveau admis en bagage à main.
Tous les vols VLM Airlines de et vers l'aéroport de London City se déroulent normalement. Certains vols connaissent cependant un léger retard de 15 à 30 minutes suite aux restrictions d'espace aérien imposées par le Contrôle du Trafic Aérien (ATC).

Emirates To Launch More KL-Dubai Flights
Emirates Airline will be offering nine flights a week on the Dubai-Kuala Lumpur route, with the addition of another flight from September to cater to increasing demand.
Ahead of that, Emirates will add two additional flights in August on an ad hoc basis to cater to the Middle East traffic demand during the summer holidays.

Emirates is also increasing its capacity between Dubai and Kuala Lumpur with the introduction of the bigger B777-300 aircraft that carries 40 people more than the B777-200s.

L'exposition "Titanic" fait escale à San Francisco
Cette exposition qui rassemble plus de 300 objets récupérés sur l’épave du Titanic a fait le tour du monde ; elle s’est arrêtée dans 50 pays et elle a été vue par 17 millions de personnes. MICE industry becomes new development trend in Vietnam`s tourism
Figures released by the General Statistics Office (GSO) showed that among 1.85 million foreign tourists traveling to Vietnam in the first six months of 2006, as many as 278,000 visitors travelled in combination with attending seminars or conferences. That is an increase of 26,3 percent over the same period last year.
As MICE tourism booms, the Vietnam Meeting and Incentive Club (VMAIC), established in 2002 and includes airlines, travel agents and hotels throughout the country, is striving to create favourable conditions in a bid to attract more MICE tourists. Ben Thanh Tourist, a pioneer in the industry that set up the country`s first professional MICE centre in April 2004, has arranged many MICE tours in such fields as oil and gas, pharmacy and trade. With about 100-200 visitors in each tour, the travel agent said that the MICE tourism trend would continue to emerge rapidly, attracting more visitors from ASEAN countries.

Strong performance for Amadeus in Asia Pacific
Monday, August 14, 2006 -- Amadeus financial results for six months ending on 30 June 2006 showed strong performance for the company. Total bookings grew by 5.5% to 263.9m. Online bookings, from all providers, grew by 22.7% and now represent 13.9% of the total. Amadeus retains its leadership position in travel agency air reservations with 30.5% of the worldwide market share, up 1.3 percentage points year-on-year. Total revenues grew by 12.7% to EUR 1,381.6m.
Asia Pacific continues to demonstrate strong growth in travel agency bookings, online and e-ticketing. Travel agency bookings in the region grew by eight percent to over 25 million. Asia Pacific also saw a significant uptake in e-ticketing with nearly four million e-tickets issued in the first six months of 2006, up nearly 30%. Online bookings processed by Amadeus in the region grew by 56% to nearly 700,000.
