Galileo signs agreement with Delta Air Lines
Thursday, May 18, 2006 -- Galileo International, a subsidiary of Cendant Corp. announced a seven-year, full content agreement with Delta Air Lines. Through the agreement, all of Delta`s published fares and inventory will be  available to all users of the Galileo GDS system including Galileo-connected travel agencies, corporate customers and Cendant TDS online agencies booking through Galileo. In addition, Delta and CheapTickets, a subsidiary of Cendant Corp., also executed a new marketing agreement.



Airlines Reach 49% ET in First Quarter
ET Growth Rates Must Increase To Meet Industry Targets

Brussels/Hong Kong, 17 May 2006 - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) today announced that global electronic ticketing (ET) penetration in its billing settlement plans (BSPs) rose by 10.4% points during the first quarter and by 20% points year over year to 49%. 142 airlines are now issuing electronic tickets in IATA BSPs, while a further 208 airlines use BSPs to issue only paper tickets. AMSTERDAM, May 17, 2006 - China Southern Airlines, has announced that it will be launching daily Boeing 777 from Amsterdam to Guangzhou with a stop in Beijing.
China Southern currently operates four times weekly from Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport to Beijing continuing onward to Guangzhou. This service, operated under code-share service with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, will increase to five times weekly on June 24 before going daily on August 14. China Airlines expands its network to Japan
In order to welcome the summer peak season, China Airlines will provide three passenger services to Japan. These include resuming Taipei-Osaka, inaugurating Taipei-Sapporo on July 1, and  Kaohsiung-Nagoya on July 2. The Taipei-Osaka route, with five flights per week, will use an A330-300 passenger jet.
The Taipei-Sapporo route, with six weekly flights, and the Kaohsiung-Nagoya route, with two weekly flights, will both use B737-800 aircraft. In the future, passengers traveling to west, north and central Japan will enjoy greater flexibility and convenience. After launching these three new services, China Airlines will provide 70 scheduled flights each week, and offer the most scheduled destinations between Taiwan and Japan than any other airline.

Boeing to Deliver first 787-9 to Air New Zealand
PHOENIX, May 11, 2006 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] will deliver the first 787-9 Dreamliner to Air New Zealand in December 2010. Boeing and ANZ, along with engine-maker Rolls-Royce, held a ceremonial signing today in which ANZ converted its original order for four 787-8 airplanes to four 787-9 airplanes.
The 787-9 is capable of carrying 250-290 passengers on routes of 8,600 to 8,800 nautical miles (15,900-16,300 kilometers). ANZ selected the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine to power its 787-9s.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Doubles its Portfolio in the Middle East
Following the Le Meridien brand acquisition in late 2005, Starwood operations in the Middle East have experienced phenomenal growth, doubling its portfolio from 25 to 48 hotels.
In the United Arab Emirates the number of Starwood properties has increased from seven to 19 hotels and in Saudi Arabia, the Le Meridien brand doubled Starwood’s properties from five to ten.
The acquisition has also given Starwood a presence in new markets, such as Medina and Al Taif in Saudi Arabia; and Lattikia in Syria, where they previously had no properties.
Further expansion in the Middle East will take place with the opening of the 198 room Sheraton Aleppo, scheduled to open in Syria in October 2006. Le Méridien Karachi, Pakistan (320 rooms) and Le Méridien Towers Makkah (1320 rooms) are both due to open in 2007.

Voyages Bedarra Island Will Re-open July 8
Voyages Bedarra Island will officially re-open from July 8, following the successful re-construction of the luxury resort after Tropical Cyclone Larry struck the Queensland coast in March.
Voyages staff have contacted all affected bookings and offered them alternative holiday packages on Lizard Island.
Guests may choose to visit Voyages Lizard Island at the same rates confirmed at the time of their Bedarra Island booking.
If guests have pre-booked a Hinterland flight from Cairns to Dunk Island, this will be accepted on the Cairns to Lizard Island service at no additional charge.
Voyages Lizard Island bookings include all meals and an array of complimentary resort activities.

Change of Management at the Mövenpick Dream Castle Hotel
The owner of the Mövenpick Dream Castle Hotel at Disneyland Resort Paris, UBX Development (France) SARL, a subsidiary of the Warimpex Finance Company domiciled in Austria, has dissolved the contract with the hotel's leaseholder Park Hotel SNC, a joint venture between Thomas Cook AG and Dertour. The management contract signed in April 2003 between the two German tour operators and Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is thus automatically terminated, and as of 1 June 2006 the theme hotel will no longer be part of the international hotel chain's portfolio.
The Mövenpick Dream Castle Hotel at Disneyland Resort Paris opened officially in July 2004 and was under the management of the Swiss hotel group for the last two years.
The family-friendly 4-star hotel offering 400 rooms will now be managed by Vienna International Hotels & Resorts, a company belonging to the owner of the hotel.

During the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, the international hotel chain announced three projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia based on management agreements. Vilvoorde, Belgium, 18 May, 2006 – Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, announced that Expedia Inc. has made its first bookings on the Amadeus system last week. Sabre signs with Macquarie and airports in Europe and Asia
Thursday, May 18, 2006 -- Sabre Airline Solutions’ consulting business has followed its strong growth in 2005 by signing 15 contracts in the first quarter this year with airport operators around the world. The deals are with  Macquarie Airports, Turin International Airport, Singapore Changi International Airport and 12 French and Swiss properties.
The contract with Macquarie involves market analysis solutions designed to assist air service development at Aeroporti di Roma, Brussels International Airport, Sydney International Airport and Copenhagen International Airport.



Sabre and Continental Airlines sign agreement
Sabre Holdings and Continental Airlines announced that Continental has signed new five-year, full content agreements with Sabre Travel Network and Travelocity. Through the agreement with Sabre Travel Network, all  Continental published fares and inventory will be available for subscribers of the Sabre global distribution system (GDS), including online and offline travel agencies. This includes published fares that the airline sells through any third-party Web site and through its own Web site and reservation offices.
Concurrent with that agreement, Continental also signed a new five-year, full-content agreement with Travelocity.

Swedish tour operator returns to Thailand
Fritidsresor, the Swedish tour operator sending the largest number of tourists to Khao Lak, have started to promote tour programmes to Khao Lak on the Internet again this autumn after having consulted with the  Tsunami Victims’ Relative Association.
Khao Lak is the area where the biggest number of Swedish tourists died when the Tsunami hit the Andaman coast of Thailand. Most of them stay in the Blue Village on Pakarang Cape situated on the northern part of Khao Lak, which was seriously destroyed by the Tsunami.

Language promotion through fairy tales
During summer 2006, nine storytellers, Katharina E. Ritter from Austria, Michal Nesvadba from the Czech Republic, Vigga Bro from Denmark, Heli Aaltonen from Finland, Nathalie Bondoux from France, Suse Weiße from Germany, Niall de Búrca from Ireland, András Faragó from Hungary and Mia Verbeelen from Belgium, visit seven European airports as part of the European cultural project ’Fairy Tales before Take-off’.
