Vietnam Airlines signs contract with AVIAREPS
The airline representative substitutes the far eastern airline in Austria
September 28, 2006 -- Since 1st of October 2006 AVIAREPS has won another new client for Austria. Vietnam Airlines has signed the agreement to be represented by the airline representative in the Austrian market. Like this, the national carrier of Vietnam reverts to the long lasting expertise and knowledge of AVIAREPS.
The carrier, that was founded in 1989, is based in Hanoi and disposes of a fleet of 42 aircrafts like 16 Airbus A320 / 321, as well as six Boeing B767 and ten Boeing B777. More international destinations, where Vietnam Airlines flies to, are for example Bangkok, Singapore, Melbourne, Peking, Sydney and Seoul as well as various domestic flights.

Brussels, September 25, 2006: Jet Airways, the premier airline of India, has been voted “India's leading airline” at the 13th Annual World Travel Awards 2006. The award was presented at a glittering ceremony at the Turks & Caicos Islands, south east of Miami in the United States of America last week.
Jet Airways was voted “India's leading airline” by travel professionals worldwide and the current year's voting campaign reached a total of 167,000 travel professionals worldwide, including 110,000 travel agents.

For the second consecutive year, Qantas has been recognised as having the Best Overall Inflight Entertainment by the World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA).
New direct flights to Riga
airBaltic and Ryanair have announced 3 new direct flight to Riga from Egypt and Germany.
airBaltic will launch scheduled flights from the Egyptian cities of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh for the winter season. From both cities there will be weekly flights on Saturdays.
Ryanair has announced that it will start operations from the German city of Bremen in April 2007. There will be three weekly flights from Bremen to Riga on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Departures from Bremen will be at 10.00 with arrivals in Riga at 13.00. Return flights from Riga will leave at 13.25 and arrive at 14.25.
Ryanair looses market share to airBaltic
While at the beginning of 2006 Ryanair and airBaltic were neck and neck on market share at Riga Airport, August however saw airBaltic’s share leap to almost double that of Ryanair.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Returns to Asia
Royal Caribbean International has announced its return to Asia, which is set for December 2007. Its Vision-class ship will offer a series of cruises out of Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai, visiting exotic ports of call in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Korea (ROK), Japan and Taipei.
"The introduction of Rhapsody of the Seas into Asia (is) part of the company's strategy of international business development and expansion into emerging and high-growth markets," said Mr Adam Goldstein, president of Royal Caribbean International.
Rhapsody of the Seas will debut December 10, 2007, in Singapore with a series of sailings that will call on Malaysia and Thailand. The ship's Asia tour continues to Hong Kong in time for the Chinese New Year. It then sails to Shanghai, Japan and Korea (ROK).

Thai Tourism Heads in New Marketing Direction
The Thai tourism industry will be marketed under a new tagline, "Unforgettable Thailand," as part of its new strategies for 2006/07, finalised at the Tourism Authority of Thailand's (TAT) annual marketing meeting in mid-August.
The new advertising and PR campaign will "focus on delivering an unforgettable experience to visitors," said then TAT Governor Mrs Juthamas Siriwan, who added: "In a major departure from previous policy, targets will now be revenue-based, designed to achieve a revenue target rather than an arrivals target."

Rem Koolhaas designs Riga's new museum of contemporary art
The renowned Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas has been chosen to design the new Museum of Contemporary Art in Riga. Conference facilities are included in the design.
The new museum will be located on the Andrejsala (Andrej Island) in a former port area along the edge of the Daugava river – due North of the Old Town of Riga. In addition to the 4000 m2 collections and exhibition area, a conference zone of up to 1000 m2 is an integral; part of the building.
