EVA Air Takes Delivery of its Third Boeing 777-300ER
SEATTLE, June 23, 2006 -- Boeing delivered a new 777-300ER to Taiwan's EVA Air on Thursday. It is the third Boeing 777-300ER received by the airline which is one of the launch customers for the 777.
The twin-engine EVA Air 777-300ER carries 316 passengers in a three-class configuration and flies up to 7,880 nautical miles (14,594 kilometers). The airplane is capable of serving such routes as Los Angeles - Taipei and Taipei - London.
Boeing, Cathay Pacific Announce 747-400ER Freighter Order

SEATTLE, June 22, 2006 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] and Cathay Pacific Airways today announced the Hong Kong-based airline has ordered six Boeing 747-400ER (Extended Range) Freighters.
The airplanes, with a total average list price value of $1.4 billion, are scheduled for delivery beginning in 2008. These six new-build |
freighter orders are in addition to thesix orders Cathay Pacific had earlier placed with Boeing for 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighter modifications. The airline currently operates 14 Boeing 747 freighters.

Estonia: Tallink Shareholders Endorse Acquisition Of Silja Line
Shareholders of the Estonian shipper Tallink Grupp at their extraordinary general meeting on Thursday approved the purchase by Tallink of the Finnish shipping company Silja Line.
The shareholders changed the statutes of association in such a way as to enable Tallink to issue five million new shares against nonmonetary contribution that will make up a part of the purchase price of Silja Line. Tallink will issue the shares to Silja Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Silja's former owner Sea Containers, at a price of EEK 58.99 per share. By a decision of the general meeting, the supervisory board of Tallink was given the right to increase the company's stock capital by EEK 210 million.
Cell phones can now be used with Carnival Cruise Liness
Through an exclusive agreement between Carnival Cruise Lines and Wireless Maritime Services (WMS), a joint venture of Cingular Wireless and Maritime Telecommunications Network, Carnival guests sailing aboard the “Fun Ships” can use a new communications option that allows them to stay in touch with people back home using their personal cell phones while in port or at sea.
Utilizing WMS’ technology, the new fleetwide service is compatible with any cellular phone and enables guests sailing on Carnival to make and receive calls anywhere in the world from any cruising region. The technology is currently available aboard the Carnival Triumph, with the balance of the line’s 21-vessel fleet scheduled to be completed by early next year.
The new fleetwide cellular phone service requires no additional software or special dialing procedures – guests simply make and receive calls as well as transmit text and multimedia messages as they would on land using their personal cell phone. International roaming fees apply to all shipboard cell phone calls.

Canina named editor of Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly
Ithaca, NY, June 26, 2006 -- Linda Canina has been named the new editor of the Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly, the award-winning academic journal published by The Center for Hospitality Research at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. Effective July 1, Canina will succeed Professor Michael Sturman, who has completed his three-year term in the position.
