Bahrain International Airport to undergo US$212 million expansion Bahrain International Airport is set to undergo a US$212 million development that will see it double the size of it's current passenger terminal - as part of a massive, three-phase expansion eventually enabling the airport to handle around 45 million passengers a year. The project, which entails extending the existing terminal to the east, will make Bahrain airport one of the most modern and busiest in the region, according to Transportation Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. Virgin Atlantic Introduces A Sixth Daily New York Service 01 Feb 06 -- Virgin Atlantic Airways today announced that it will be introducing an additional daily JFK service, increasing its flights between Heathrow and New York from five to six a day. The new daily service will be the airlines second daylight flight from New York and will operate from 1 July 2006. Read more. The SAS Group airline, Widerøe, the largest regional airline in the Nordic countries will commence new direct flights from the UK to Norway from 27 March 2006. The new services will complement Widerøes existing double daily services from Aberdeen to Stavanger and Bergen. Widerøe will operate four direct flights a week from Edinburgh to Bergen and twice weekly flights from Newcastle.

The Mekong Tourism Office (MTO) opens its doors today (February 1) in Bangkok. Charged with co-ordinating the tourism marketing and development efforts of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS), the MTO is located at Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sport.
