DELTA UNDER CHAPTER 11: NO IMPACT ON AIR FRANCE
Delta has filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
This voluntary approach, which allows Delta to address its financial challenges while continuing its transformation, will have no impact on Air France:
1) either in terms of equity, as there are no equity ties between Air France and Delta,
2) or from a commercial viewpoint, because Air France customers can, as in the past, fly Delta-operated flights, code-shared under the AF/DL code. Passengers will continue to be able to use the Delta lounges under the conditions laid down by SkyTeam. All Flying Blue Miles earned on Delta flights will be credited to their account as before.
Delta will continue to operate normally and will of course remain a full member of SkyTeam, as its membership of this alliance is one of its major assets. All agreements between Air France and Delta will remain intact.
In conclusion, Air France is convinced that Delta has made the right decision, and that it will retain its position among the leading carriers in the U.S. and worldwide.
