Chicago, IL (18 May 2010) – Speaking before the closing assembly of the Association of Corporate Travel Executive’s (ACTE) Global Education Conference (http://www.acte.org/content/SG_10/Conference_Home), outgoing President Richard Crum introduced Ron DiLeo as the group’s new executive director. According to Crum, DiLeo’s appointment is the culmination of a six-month search that had a strong emphasis on global experience and multinational achievements in the business travel management industry. DiLeo’s background spans more than 30 years as a ranking executive in the air transport, travel management company, and travel management consultant sectors.
“ACTE is focused on the future, with ambitious plans for membership growth, program enhancement, and a stronger presence in an industry that demands constant dialogue on a number of levels,” said Crum. “Ron DiLeo is well-known within the profession for his drive, vision, and commitment to performance. We welcome his contribution to the ACTE leadership team.”
DiLeo is currently the principal of “In The Black,” a consulting practice specializing in travel and business management performance. Prior to forming this consultancy, he was senior vice president and general manager of American Express EMEA. His responsibilities include the management of a $7 billion business, employing 6,300 people, encompassing twenty-one markets throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. DiLeo came to American Express after a 25-year tenure with Rosenbluth International, a privately held global travel management company of 3,800 people, with offices in 48 countries. He held numerous positions with Rosenbluth, rising to Chief Operating Officer, and was key to the company’s transformation from a US affiliate of a global business consortium to a multi-national business with its own affiliate network. DiLeo was also a founding member and Chief Commercial Officer of
OpenSkies, an airline subsidiary for British Airways.
DiLeo will officially begin as ACTE’s Executive Director on 1 July 2010.
