The EU will invest 5 million euros in the development of the Crimea

The European Union is ready to invest in the tourism industry of the Crimea five million euros according to the project of support the development of tourism of the country.

Presentation of the project “Support of Tourism Development in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” in the framework of the EU program “Joint Initiative for Cooperation in the Crimea will be held on March 2 in Yalta, at the XXI International Tourism Fair “Crimea. Resorts. Tourism.”

According to the Minister of Tourism and Resorts of Crimea Nikolay Marinov, the project will be implemented by a consortium of international consulting companies from Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands which have won the tender.

It is expected that European project consultants will familiarize participants with the goals and objectives, planned activities, available resources and expected results at the forthcoming presentation.

The project of tourism development of the Crimea includes three main components. First is the institutional development – promoting the reform of the regulatory framework, improving the interaction between business and government in matters of tourism. Second is the improvement of service quality and management of tourist facilities – the development and implementation of standards. And third is the diversification of tourism activities – to support the development of historical, natural, educational and other types of tourism.

The project will be implemented within three years from 2012 to 2014.
