United, Aer Lingus maintain plans for joint venture

United Airlines and Aer Lingus plan to move ahead with their joint venture across the Atlantic, even after the Irish carrier announced layoffs affecting one-sixth of its workforce. “There is no change to our relationship with Aer Lingus,” according to a United spokeswoman. Beginning in March, United plans to offer U.S. service from Madrid on aircraft operated by Aer Lingus with all-new pilots and cabin crews. The Wall Street Journal/Dow Jones Newswires
